Celebrating you

I made this card today using my newly acquired Clearly Besotted Celebrating You set. Since I don't yet have the matching dies a little bit of fussy cutting was required. Tedious but always worth it!
I love the gorgeous daisy bunch from the set but only wanted the flowers this time so I masked a diagonal piece across my card to match the width of the Lil Inkers On the Diagonal die. Flowers were stamped & masked before colouring with Distress Markers.

The flower centres were finished with Wink of Stella brush pen for a pretty sparkle. A bit hard to see in the main photo so here's a close up -

I just love how these pens just give enough subtle sparkle to give your projects a bit of a lift!

One layer Christmas card

Another card for the One Layer Christmas Card Challenge # 2.

The optional twist this time was snowflakes which was a bit tricky as I don't own much with snowflakes. Living in a place where our Christmas is the middle of summer & usually very hot, it's not something I have a big need for.
However I was lucky the Hero Arts Stamp & Cut Holiday Tree set already had a cute tree with snowflakes. With some masking I stamped 2 of the trees from the set with distress inks.

Awesome neon!

Taken a break for a few days with the weather once again around 35°C - 37°C. Just simply too hot to think!
I made todays card for Cure for the Monday Blues Challenge # 41.

The inspiration was stunning and Hero Arts Neon inks were perfect for my card -

I wanted to make the most of the intense neon colour so I used a Memory box stencil with ink applicators for the background. Words are white embossed on black & stamped with Archival Jet Black on the coloured background. A little Star Dust Stickles was applied to the centres of the flowers although the sparkle probably doesn't show much.

More texture paste...

My second post for today. While I had some leftover texture paste from my previous card I decided to go ahead and make another challenge card.

This was a quick & easy card using a Heidi Swapp stencil for the heart background. As I mentioned before I had some leftover coloured texture paste from the previous card so I added a couple of drops of Picked Raspberry Distress ink to darken to this gorgeous pink. I used the same Penny Black Love word, cut 3 times & stacked for dimension and coated with Wink of Stella.

Love......

I love playing around with texture paste and stencils. There is just something about all that mixing & spreading, a bit like icing a cake I guess lol. I just love Simon Says Stamps falling Hearts & Stars stencils so I took the opportunity to use the hearts stencil for a Valentines card.

 Using Ranger Texture paste I mixed a couple of drops of Spun Sugar into the paste to use with the Falling Stars stencil to create the background. I then swiped Barn Door, Picked Raspberry & Worn Lipstick distress inks on my craft sheet and after spritzing with water picked up the colour on my die-cut heart. The kraft "Love" die cut word was cut 3 times and the last 3 letters were stacked to give dimension.I then coated the whole word in Wink of Stella to give a lovely sheen. I only stacked the last 3 letters of the word as the heart was mounted with thin foam tape raising it enough so the "L" only needed one layer.

This photo shows how the Wink of Stella pen gives a lovely sheen but even then it is still no where near as lovely as in real life!
At the last minute I added a couple of tiny clear sequins mainly because I needed to hide a small black ink smudge! Gotta love those sequins!

Runway Inspired Challenge

With the cooler weather it has been nice to be able to get in & create a few cards without dripping perspiration everywhere!
My next card I am entering in the Runway Inspired Challenge #76 -

I loved the colours in the panels on the jacket so using Hero Arts Large Blossom I stamped with Versafine & watercoloured with distress inks. Some Wink of Stella was added to flower centres and then finished with a sentiment from Simon Says Stamp Handwritten Greetings. Flower panel was mounted with foam tape to card panel.

Todays card I'm entering in Cure for the Monday Blues #40.

I was inspired by the chair fabric and the predominant colours of yellow & pink.

I used Hero Arts Looped Circle Pattern and embossed in white. Then I coloured the background with Peerless Watercolours and then added Ranger Liquid Pearl dots in Petal Pink. The flowers & leaves from Winnie & Walters The Big, the Bold & Extras were also coloured with Peerless Watercolours and fussy cut to layer on background. I stamped the banner from the same set and embossed with Ranger Liquid Platinum & mounted with foam tape.

Happy thoughts

I definitely needed happy thoughts the last few days with the weather being around 35 - 37°C. Makes it hard to want to create anything except ice cold drinks!
I came up with this card for the CAS-ual Fridays, The Clean & Simple Challenge CFC 135 Felt & Sequins

It had been so long since I used my felt stash it took me an hour to find it lol! It also gave me an excuse to use the cute mini flower sequins from Simon Says Stamp as well.

I struggled with this a little bit. I don't think I've used or seen so much gold embossing in over 10 years lol! Had fun with the dots from Winnie & Walter's Big Bang Confetti though and the Criss Cross background from Darkroom Door is normally a favourite but together, hmmm?? Not sure.

New year, new challenge.

Hello

Welcome to my new blog! After months of procrastinating I thought a new year was the perfect time to take the jump! I'm not really one for new year resolutions but I have set myself some goals to enjoy my cardmaking more, use more of my stash & make for fun rather than on an as needed basis. After running a business for years & blogging for business I thought I am overdue for "me" time! So my plan is to join some challenges this year and push myself outside my comfort zone.

To start I have decided to enter this card in the One Layer Christmas Card Challenge 

As much as I love CAS, one layer cards are not something I do a lot of so to make this look layered I masked the centre of the card before stamping MFT Diagonal Stripes background to frame the PTI Christmas tree. The sentiment is from Technique Tuesday Good Cheer set. And..........wait for it.......

not one bit of sparkle anywhere! Shock, horror! For people who know me it is rare not to find sequins, stickles or Wink of Stella somewhere but nope, I liked it plain.
