You are loved

Hello

I made this card for my eldest daughter. She's finding life a bit challenging at the moment so I'm hoping to cheer her up a bit.

The patterned panel was stamped with SSS Friendly Flowers & I also used some leaves from SSS Thinking of You set. I used the MISTI to do the stamping so I could be sure of good ink coverage.I cut several masks of the flowers so I could add the greenery behind the flowers. I stamped an extra pink flower on scrap card and added some detail with Copics and some Viva Decor White Pearl pen to the centre. Hero Arts Raindrop Background was used for the shaker background. The shaker was constructed with fun foam which makes life so much easier when making shaker cards. Another great tip from Jennifer McGuire! Once the shaker was constructed the extra pink flower and word strip were adhered using foam squares for dimension. The die-cut word was adhered directly over the acetate window with Multi Matte Medium.

Wishing...

Hello

This next card is being entered in Runway Inspired Challenge # 86

My inspiration came from the teal, purple & gold colours in the outfit. Yeah, I know the stripes in my card are going the wrong way but it's all in the interpretation lol!
I used watercolour paper & Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolours for the washed stripes. Then I dropped Prima Color Bloom Gold Foil spray randomly over the card. Dropping it gave me more control than light spritzing as I didn't want a lot so less likely to stuff it up! Using one of the stars from Winnie & Walter's Sparkle stamp set I randomly stamped between some of the gold dots with Tsukineko Delicata Golden Glitz. On black card I gold embossed a background pattern and then die-cut 'wishing'. I cut it twice more from plain black & stacked for dimension. Finished with the gold embossed sentiment on black mounted with foam tape.

Thanks for visiting.

Enjoy

Hello

Lately I have been playing around with creating different types of backgrounds which is something I have always loved to do. I really like how you can start off with something in mind & end up with something completely different nine times out of ten! plus you end up with lots of pattern pieces for future projects.
The patterned piece on this next card started with Gelatos on watercolour paper.

I applied 3 colours of Gelatos and blended with a wet brush and also with my finger. When that was dry I taped the Tim Holtz Doily stencil on top & sprayed with Prima Color Bloom Gold Foil spray. It is hard to see in the photo but it has a lovely soft gold metallic pattern over the Gelatos. For the vellum flower & leaves I used Winnie & Walter's In Bloom - Addie's Garden. I stamped on vellum with Versamark & embossed with Zing Gold embossing powder then fussy cut. To complete the card I die-cut one edge of gold metallic card with the middle sized Lawn Fawn Stitched Scallop Border and adhered that & the patterned piece to the card. To adhere the vellum flower & leaves I carefully applied adhesive under the embossed lines so the adhesive wouldn't show through. The die cut word was cut twice from Bazzill Bling metallic card & stacked for dimension. Of course it wouldn't be finished without some sparkle & bling so I added some coordinating sequins.
I am entering this into Sparkle & Shine Challenge # 7 using their challenge sketch as inspiration.

Thanks for visiting.

Botanical happy birthday

Hello

I am entering this next card into WPlus9 Throwback Thursday # 5.
My inspiration came from the lovely colours Maureen used in her cards, so pretty.
I was needing another birthday card but when I was almost finished this next one I was a bit torn as I really thought it would make a lovely anniversary or wedding card.

Birthday was what I needed so that's what it is!
I stamped WPlus9 Botanical Bunch in Memento Desert Sand & coloured with Copics. I stamped & coloured an extra flower to fussy cut and mounted with foam tape on bottom left. The centre of each flower was finished with Wink of Stella.

The 'happy' word was cut from gold metallic card stock which gives a lovely elegant look to the card. Unfortunately I stamped the 'birthday' word a little too low but I guess the recipient won't mind! The card was finished with some soft pinky/peachy coloured sequins.

Thanks for visiting.

Supplies -
Stamps - WPlus9 Botanical Bunch, Winnie & Walter The Big The Bold & The Happy
Ink - Memento Desert Sand, Versafine Onyx Black

Fabulous day

Hello

I made today's card for the Hero Arts Tic Tac Toe Challenge. I have chosen circles, background stamp & watercolour.

To create the background I stamped Hero Arts Looped Circle Pattern with Versamark ink & heat embossed with Zing clear embossing powder on Ranger Watercolor paper. I coloured the background with  Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolours by wetting whole background first & painting in graduated horizontal stripes all the way down allowing the colours to blend slightly. The flowers are from Hero Arts Make the World a Better Place clear set and were stamped with Versamark & heat embossed with Wow Opaque Bright White embossing powder. They were also coloured with the watercolours & then fussy cut. The white circle was stamped with a sentiment from Hero Arts Butterfly clear set. To avoid too much bulkiness I adhered the die-cut circle directly to the background and arranged the flowers & leaves which were adhered with Multi Matte Medium except for the yellow flower which was mounted with foam squares. To finish Star Dust Stickles was used on the dots between the interlocking circles which gave a lovely soft sparkle to the background.

Thanks for visiting.

Butterflies

Hello

This card was made with a butterfly from a Stampendous set that I had yet to use.

I stamped the butterfly with Salty Ocean Distress ink on Ranger Watercolour paper. On the first butterfly I then painted in the white areas with Mustard Seed Distress ink with a fairly wet brush so the blue & yellow would bleed together to bring in some green. The second butterfly was coloured with Picked Raspberry to bring in a slight purple tone. Black Soot was added to the body of the butterfly so it would stand out more. I used to do this technique years ago before we had distress inks. I would use Ranger Adirondack inks and had a favourite Penny Black butterfly that I would always use with a water brush. It's so much easier & far more effective with the distress inks not to mention the gorgeous colours we now have.
You have the option to paint with a fairly wet brush to really bleed the inks or less water to maintain more of the stamped detail. Either way looks good. The die cut sentiment was cut twice and stacked before adhering. The edge of the base card was stamped with SSS Diagonal stripes before adhering the watercolour panel and then added a few coloured iridescent sequins to match.
I am entering this into the following challenges -

The Card Concept # 37 - The Butterfly Effect

Watercolor Blog Hop Card 3

Hello

This is my second post for today with my 3rd and final card for the Pretty Pink Posh Watercolor Blog Hop

I have been playing a lot with watercolour backgrounds over the last few months and was getting some good but also a lot of bad results. Frustration was starting to get the better of me until I started experimenting with different papers. Now I realise that quality & type of watercolour paper matters but what was really getting to me was that a lot of backgrounds were drying with terrible small splotches, almost like small oil patches in them. I came across an article by a watercolour artist quite by accident and this happened to mention faulty paper where for some reason the "sizing" in the paper had been affected and showed photos of the same blotches that I had. So I isolated the offending paper in my stash and changed to different brands and have never had a problem since. Who would have thought?! All that time I thought it was me lol!

Anyway, this card was made using some Bienfang Watercolour paper and  Kuretake Gansai watercolours onto wet paper, letting the colours run together. The vellum flowers & leaves were embossed in white for a soft look allowing the underneath colours to show through. I carefully adhered with glue by applying directly under the embossed lines so it wouldn't show through. I cut the word die 3 times and stacked and then gave it a couple of coats of Wink of Stella for a soft pretty sheen. Of course it wouldn't be finished without a few sequins!

Thanks for visiting.

Supplies -
Stamps - Winnie & Walter In Bloom Addie's Garden, SSS Sending & Wishing
Dies - SSS Sending Die, MFT Flag Stax (smallest cut down)
Bienfang Watercolour Paper, Kuretake Gansai Tambi Watercolours, Wink of Stella, Clear Sequins

Watercolor Blog Hop Card 2

Hello

This is my second card for the Pretty Pink Posh Watercolor Blog Hop

Using Altenew Peony Scrolls I stamped with Versamark on Ranger Watercolor paper and embossed with Wow Opaque Bright White embossing powder. I painted each petal individually by wetting thoroughly with water and dropping in the yellow colour and allowing it to flow to ends then while still very wet I dropped in a little red at the base of each petal and let it blend itself. I also used 2 colours on the leaves in a similar method but moving the colour through the middle more. I then fussy cut the flowers & leaves (can't wait to get the die!) and adhered with Multi Matte Medium leaving some areas slightly lifted and added some clear sequins. Normally I would have dimensionally mounted some of the flowers and the word strip but I am sending this overseas to my daughter who is currently living in London so had to keep it fairly flat for postage reasons.

Thanks for visiting.

Supplies -
Stamps - Altenew Peony Scrolls, JustRite Sympathy, Darkroom Door Woodgrain
Inks - Versamark, Ranger Archival Jet Black, Archival Watering Can

Watercolor Blog Hop

Hello

I thought I would enter today's card in the Pretty Pink Posh Watercolor Blog Hop

There is so much stunning inspiration there I could look all day! There really are some amazingly talented people out there.

I used Altenew's Persian Motifs on Ranger Watercolour paper and stamped with Versamark and heat embossed with Wow Opaque Bright White embossing powder. The flowers were coloured with my Peerless watercolours. I decided not to watercolour the background but leave lots of white to really highlight the gorgeous pinks. The sentiment was stamped using my MISTI so I could get a couple of good inkings for a nice sharp black.

Thanks for visiting.

Supplies -
Stamps - Altenew Persian Motifs, Penny Black Sprinkles & Smiles
Ink - Versamark, Ranger Archival Jet Black
Peerless Watercolours, Wow Opaque Bright White Embossing powder, sequins.

Hugs from home

Hello

I made this card for my daughter who is in the police and lives over a 1400 km away. Some weeks are long and tough for her and this die & stamp set from PTI is perfect for sending that reminder about how much we miss her.

I coloured card stock with 3 distress inks to achieve an ombre effect or as close to as I could and then cut out the hugs die. The main white background was stencilled with Tim Holtz Bubble stencil and WPlus9 Fairy Dust ink. I love this ink as it is a lovely soft grey/blue and is perfect for a subtle background. After sponging with ink I left he stencil in place and then sprayed with Tsukineko Shimmer Spritz to give a beautiful soft sparkly sheen.

Not the best photography but I think you can get the idea. I cut the foliage from vellum with Memory Box Geneva Vine and adhered just under the word when that was stuck down. A few clear sequins and the finished look is clean and simple.
I am entering this into the following challenges
