This is my second post for today with my 3rd and final card for the Pretty Pink Posh Watercolor Blog Hop
I have been playing a lot with watercolour backgrounds over the last few months and was getting some good but also a lot of bad results. Frustration was starting to get the better of me until I started experimenting with different papers. Now I realise that quality & type of watercolour paper matters but what was really getting to me was that a lot of backgrounds were drying with terrible small splotches, almost like small oil patches in them. I came across an article by a watercolour artist quite by accident and this happened to mention faulty paper where for some reason the "sizing" in the paper had been affected and showed photos of the same blotches that I had. So I isolated the offending paper in my stash and changed to different brands and have never had a problem since. Who would have thought?! All that time I thought it was me lol!
Anyway, this card was made using some Bienfang Watercolour paper and Kuretake Gansai watercolours onto wet paper, letting the colours run together. The vellum flowers & leaves were embossed in white for a soft look allowing the underneath colours to show through. I carefully adhered with glue by applying directly under the embossed lines so it wouldn't show through. I cut the word die 3 times and stacked and then gave it a couple of coats of Wink of Stella for a soft pretty sheen. Of course it wouldn't be finished without a few sequins!
