I love the WPlus9 Flora & Fauna 2 stamp set. I've used the butterflies before but hadn't touched the flowers & hummingbirds due to feeling a little intimidated about the best way to colour. I was initially going to use traditional watercolours but as I'm still learning with these I thought the chances of stuffing it up were too high! So I followed Dawn Woleslagle's lead and used distress markers with a water brush. Gosh, can this lady colour! I could watch her videos all day as she makes it's look so easy!
I stamped the flowers in Antique Linen distress ink for a light outline & I used Barn Door Distress marker to colour the flowers. I'm reasonably happy with the outcome for the flowers but the hummingbird was a lot harder. I actually took the colours I used from a real photo of a hummingbird but unfortunately the green colour hasn't shown as well as the blue in this photo. Overall I'm happy I finally took the plunge but obviously a lot more practice required lol!
Nevertheless I'm going to enter this in the WPlus9 Throwback Thursday # 2 challenge
Thanks for visiting.
