I made today's card for the The Card Concept # 32
I was inspired by the gorgeous colours and my first instinct was to go with a floral design but since I do a lot of flowers I thought I'd try something different. Unfortunately the aqua in my card has photographed a lot bluer than it actually is. Oh well, more practise with the camera needed still!
I love this Looped Circle Pattern by Hero Arts. You can make it look quite different depending on how you colour it. First I embossed the pattern with Wow Opaque Bright White embossing powder on watercolour paper. I was initially going to lay down big splotches of watercolour very randomly but I also wanted to also leave lots of white. So instead I just used distress inks and randomly applied water first with a brush and then sploshed distress inks across the wet sections of the pattern without worrying too much about keeping within the lines. When I had finished with all the colours I realised it wasn't quite as random as I had intended. Funny how difficult it is to work outside of lines when you love precision lol!
Since I didn't have the new Abandoned Coral Distress ink, I mixed my own coral colour by using Picked Raspberry with a small amount of Ripe Persimmon. I die-cut the 'happy' several times in black cardstock and stacked for dimension. A few sequins in matching colours and birthday banner and it's all done. Not sure if I like it but I had fun! I'm going with clean & graphic for the style.
Thanks for visiting.
